Primitivo wine D.O.C. Gioia del Colle

It is dedicated to Senator Antonio Michele Coppi, farsighted founder of Coppi winery as well as winemaker, who loves and deeply knows the territory of the Murgia dei Trulli of Bari, of which this vine is one of its noblest expressions.

Characteristics

Grape variety: Primitivo 100%
Vineyards location: Marchione district, Conversano (BA), Apulia – Italy
Soil characteristics: limestone and clay hills
Training system: sapling
Yields per plant: 1-4 kg approx
Planting year: 1990
Harvest: handpicked grapes from family vineyards, in the first ten days of September
Vinification: grapes are carefully selected in the cellar, then crushed and de-stemmed and then kept in steel tanks. Fermentation of the skins enables the extraction of all their valuable substances; fruity polyphenols and tannins. Each step takes place at a controlled temperature. Once the skins are separated, the wine goes into steel silos
Ageing: slowly in 50 hl Slavonian oak barrels, preferably already flavoured by other wines, for a period of about 12 months
Annual production: about 30,000 bottles
Serving temperature: 18 ° -20 ° C

Tasting Notes

Colour: deep red with purple hues
Bouquet: intense and persistent, fine, slightly spicy
Palate: dry, warm, soft, quite tannic, tasty
Food pairings: mousaka, chicken with soy sauce, onion soup, costini with bacon, parmesan cheese
Cellaring: very long-lived, about 15 years
Alcohol: 13.5% vol*

(* Depending on the year, the analytical values may vary slightly)
