Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Limestone
Site : Plot-based selection on hills ideally located south of the village of Chablis.
The Vintage 2013 : After a long winter and a gloomy spring, the summer was warm and sunny but with intervals of violent hail storms. The harvest took place in the last days of September under a bright sunshine. The difficult weather conditions at the beginning of the year and the hail storms have considerably impacted the yields in most of the wine regions but quality is there. The white wines are tense with citrus fruit aromas and a well-shaped acidity.
Tasting : Pale gold colour. Delicate floral fragrances mixed with aromas of grape fruit on a subtle minerality. Pure and well-crafted. Good structure. Refreshing mineral finish, straight and of good length.
Food pairing : Pâté, lobsters and poultry as well as some goat cheeses.
“As one should expect here, there is a completely different aromatic profile as the notes of oyster shell, iodine and sea breeze add both breadth and lift to the floral and pear fruit aromas. I like the clean and cool mouth feel of the detailed and stony flavors that terminate in a lingering finish that offers plenty of Chablis character. 2017+ Score: 88
