Grape variety: 100% Aglianico.

Production area: Hillside vineyards in Carazita, Pesano and Brussineta, some of the most famous sites of the Taurasi DOCG growing area in the municipalities of Luogosano and Sant’Angelo all’Esca.

Altitude: 350 metres above sea level.

Soil type: Calcareous clay with evident volcanic outcrops.

Vinification: Grapes are handpicked in the first days of November, transported to the cellar and carefully selected before destemming. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in small stainless steel tanks and maceration on the skins last for about a month with manual pumping over and punching down. The wine is aged in French oak barriques for 24 months, in stainless steel tanks for another 24 months and finally a further 12 months at a minimum in the bottle.

Tasting note:
Colour: Deep ruby red with garnet reflections.
Aroma: Notes of ripe fruit, black cherry and dried plum with elegant scents of old rose, moss and leather. Nutmeg and toasted wood complete the bouquet along with a hint of liquorice and aromatic herbs.
Taste: Full and enveloping but with great balance and silky tannins. A persistent and intense finish reminiscent of berry fruits and spices.

Food pairing: Excellent with hearty cuisine of all kinds, especially regional dishes of meat with succulent sauces, lamb dishes and seasoned cheeses. Best served at a temperature of 18°C. Open and decant the bottle an hour before serving.
